Purpose

How do we define purpose?  The first step to defining purpose is knowing what the word means.  I think it is the cause-and-effect concept.  The purpose is the cause of things to happen; for example, I am writing this blog or whatever I call this piece of writing.  The effect is that I can use this writing to publish on LinkedIn, or I can publish it on other platforms — it depends on how long this piece turns out to be; I do not know.

Our purpose can change over time because it depends on how much information we get on the issue, in other words, that our purpose can change at a moment of notice.  For example, the purpose of a particular day for a particular mom might be to clean the house, when suddenly the school calls, telling her that her child is sick; now the purpose of her day is taking care of her sick child.  We can have many purposes in life.  It all depends on what we are doing at the moment.

Often when people ask us what are our life purposes, the answer to this question is hard.  I think the better question to ask is, How do you get to your life purpose?  For example, let’s say it’s teaching young adults how to read.  The first step is to make sure you know how to read yourself.  Second, find a community program where they need volunteers.  Third, learn how to teach someone how to read.

I believe that our life purpose is formed from many small purposes in our lifetime.  This holds for everything that we do.  We start work on many small things which lead to the main purpose of something big.  We start from different points before we move toward our life purpose.  Not many people know their life purpose at a young age but they work toward their goals.  That small purpose will get you there in time.

I think the purpose is about being willing to change for unforeseen events happening in our daily lives.  There is such a thing as holding our beliefs too tight, for example, my way or no way.  We could lose everything that is dear to us.  We need to be flexible for unforeseen events happening around us.  I believe that when we hold on to our respective things too close, we will not see what matters the most to us.  Everything is subject to change at a moment of notice.

Most people, I feel, do not understand the concept of how the conclusion works.  Here is a simple understanding of it. I disagree that the idea of a conclusion stays the same always.  This statement is false because new facts come in which implore us to change the conclusion therefore the conclusion cannot stay the same all the time.  When new facts come in, the equation will change.

Nobody knows the purpose of meeting someone new.  However, we will find out in time.  We never know how long the relationship will last knowing one of you will pack up and go for some kind of reason: this is part of life’s journey which everyone needs to go through.  Each person we come across has a purpose for showing up in our life at the time, but we do not know although we will find out later on.
